bad news is first, when we turned up for the citizen advice debt meeting the woman wasn’t there!! turns out she’d had a death in the family and she had to leave an hour or so before we turned up for our appointment. it’s really frustrating, we’ve made another appointment now, couldn’t do anyhting else really because no one else at the agency have the enough experience apparently with this type of debt (on credit cards and loans and stuff). there was a guy there who said he’s done some training on it, but he mostly deals with sorting out advising people on their benefit entitlements, so we agreed it was best just to wait for the proper advisor woman at some point in the future.
good news now! ok so i finished reading that debt advice ebook pete bought a while ago, turns out it’s really helpful, much better than the one i walked allthe way to the library to collect, forgot its name now. ended up ditching that one and sticking with the Debt Crisis Point one, i’ve printed it out on the sly at work and made little notes in the margins. i’ve already started to use some of the template debt letters it has inside, and am waiting on a reply back from the credit card companies. fingers crossed they agree to stop the interest for a little bit, the letter in the book was really good, and I think it will work!
other stuff… dog chewed through the net cable last week, well “FILTER” apparently – the thing that plugs into the phoneline, so it’s been a bit crap not being able to go on the internet much. oh well, it’s sorted now, dave got a spare one from a friend, so we’re back in bussiness.
pete hasn’t been that into helping me with this. or so i thought. turns out he’sgot the afternoon off work for the day of the citizen advice office appointment, and he’s also bought this book: debt advice ebook which he’s even read half of apparently. he says it’s really good so far. just goes to show what a few days of being ill cooped up on the sofa will do to a man i thought wasn’t that bothered about the face we’re in debt!!
oh he’s also reserved this at the local library for us:
IVA, Bankruptcy and Other Debt Solutions: The Definitive Guidethat is posted from amazon but obviously we haven’t bought that one, we can’t really afford to spend a lot of money on the advice, and that one is free from the library. he found it on the library catalog list apparently, didn’t even have to go to the library to ask for it to be reserved! how neat is that!
